The Masterplan - Build in Public

Follow along to see how I'm growing my newsletter

Hey Creators.

In the words of the great Lenny Kravtiz;

Are you gonna go my way

Or at least come with me (i’m way cooler than Lenny anyway 🙂 ).

In this briefest of newsletter series I’m going to be sharing what I am doing to build this Newsletter.

I’m going to be throwing roughly 15 years of online marketing and 25 years of entrepreneurship at this.

I firmly believe you are exactly where you are supposed to be in your life right now.

Whatever is going on, good or bad.

It’s led you here and you are never more experienced than you are now.

So, with that in mind, I’m going to share many of those things along the way in Remarkable Creators.

More than that though. I will be sharing what I am learning now and the result of those learnings in the wild.

Good AND bad.

So buckle up team.

Let’s go.

What am I doing?

Early in 2023 I had revisited an idea of running my own summit. What seemed like a pipe dream before, was now suddenly within reach as I had learned about One Day Summits.

If you read the last update (welcome post) you’ll know that central to my business for a few years now is Revenue Share Partnerships.

I feel the model is great for those who want to create leveraged income and escape the juggle of multiple retained clients who all want their pound of flesh while driving down your costs. Not all of them do, but some, and you can create the best work ever. You’ll only get paid for your time.

Taking a slice of the revenue you help to create means you can earn money after you did the work, and the more success your efforts see, the more you earn.

Case in point one of my partners made a sale shortly before me sitting down to write this which made me $200. (I was messing around creating an image for this post at the time)

Not huge numbers but it adds up over the month and in varying amounts between different partners, and the point is, I did the work that earnt that $200 over two months ago.

So, on to the summit.

I will say this.

If I had a crystal ball before starting a summit, I would instead decide to write a book and build a funnel around it.

(which I will be sharing in a future post series 😉 )

But I persevered with the summit, and I am glad I did as it’s going to be epic; check it out here:

I now have an incredible digital asset. Something we should all be creating.

Why a summit?

Here’s why I decided to go for a summit:

  1. They can be great for positioning in a market through borrowed authority

  2. They can build your list super quick

  3. You can make money from them

  4. You can launch new products and services from them

BUT - they are a freakish amount of hard work.

Especially as a one person business, which is why you don’t see many small businesses running them.

In the next few posts I’m going to share more about how I intend promoting this summit starting from scratch which you can apply not just to an event but your whole business.

How I Intend Promoting The Summit

  1. Speaker promotion

  2. Affiliates

  3. Cold outreach

  4. My network

  5. Ads

  6. Reels with automation

  7. YouTube

I’m going to share with you how I do each one and if it works or fails.

So you can copy the good bits and ignore the bad.

See you in the next one.

Tim
